What is A4 grade stainless steel?
A4 stainless steel is a specific type of stainless steel that belongs to the austenitic stainless steel family. It is also known as grade 316 stainless steel or 316L stainless steel.
What are the advantages of A4 stainless steel?
A4 stainless steel is characterized by its high corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in various applications, particularly in environments where exposure to moisture, chemicals, or saltwater is expected.
What is the difference between A2 stainless and A4 stainless?
A4 stainless steel (grade 316 or 316L) offers higher corrosion resistance than A2 stainless steel (grade 304), particularly in chloride-rich or marine environments.
What is metric coarse thread?
Metric coarse thread refers to a standard thread pitch used in metric fasteners. It is one of the two most common thread types in metric systems, the other being metric fine thread.
Why stainless steel fasteners are magnetic?
The 304 and 316 stainless steel grades are both austenitic, which means that they are non-magnetic. When stainless steel items are cold worked or welded, or exposed to very low temperatures, the austenite can be converted to martensite or ferrite, which are both magnetic.
Due to the processes used in the shaping and forming of steel to form fasteners, you may very well end up with screws or bolts that are magnetic despite being made of 304 or 316 stainless steel.
